Lemonberry Labs is a small studio of highly experienced engineers and product people, founded and led by Ran Magen. We make products of our own, and we build, automate and coach for clients.

I’m Ran Magen, the founder of Lemonberry Labs. I have spent more than 25 years building scalable systems, shaping products, and taking ideas from nothing to launch, at Coinbase, Twitter, Apollo GraphQL and AWS. I am known for distributed systems, backend infrastructure and developer productivity platforms, and I can work at nearly any layer of the stack.
I do my best work where engineering meets product: asking the right questions, challenging assumptions, and moving a project forward with a clear goal.
I started the studio to build products of my own and to bring that experience to other teams. Founding companies with paying customers taught me what engineering work a business needs. I like to learn, to collaborate, and to write software that lasts.

I spent my career on the systems other engineers build on, at companies where a mistake reaches millions of people, and then founded two companies of my own.

CO-FOUNDERAn AI learning app for kids. I run the technical side of the company: the Go backend, the cloud infrastructure, and how we ship.
Lemonberry Labs
FOUNDER & CEOI build, launch and support products with paying customers, Lemonvite among them, and I lead every client project. It taught me what engineering work a business needs.
Coinbase
TECH LEAD, BACKEND PRODUCTIVITYI was the technical lead for backend engineering productivity. I led the migration to GraphQL Federation, set Protobuf standards across more than 700 repositories, and founded the Server Foundations Guild.
Apollo GraphQL
ENGINEER, FEDERATION & INFRASTRUCTUREI worked on backend infrastructure and Federation, and wrote the next-generation Federation gateway in Rust.
Amazon Web Services
ENGINEER, MEDIACONNECTI built AWS Elemental MediaConnect, a live video transport service, from its first line of code.
I was the tech lead for Timelines infrastructure: Home, Profile and Notifications. I owned tweet fanout, the system that writes each new tweet into its followers’ timelines, for hundreds of millions of users.
Startups
ENGINEERI built distributed systems at Dapper (acquired by Yahoo), my6sense, and Worklight (acquired by IBM), after eight years building for the web.
